CHILDREN WEEK-TOWARDS RESPONSIBLE PARENTHOOD

During the Children Week, which is marked in Serbia from 7th to 13th of October, the president of Municipality of Palilula Boban Džunić traditionally hosted a reception for a delegation of Students' Parliament and teachers from seven elementary schools, which operate in the municipality of Palilula. The program of activities celebrating Children's Week in the 2013th were carried out under the motto: Listen Mom and Dad, I want a sister or a brother! This year's Children's Week is giving special attention to the contribution to creating a positive climate for the birth, and to support the development of models of responsible parenthood, in accordance with relevant national and international documents and applicable regulations.
Boban Dzunic, president of Municipality of Palilula, Robert Džunić, director of the primary school "Kralj Petar Prvi", and Suzana Vasic, who is president of the association “Friends of Children”, spoke with students from the school parliament about the importance of social care for children, the place and role of local authorities, educational institutions, and civil society organizations. On the territory of Palilula there are seven elementary schools, namely: elementary school, "Kralj Petar Prvi", "Kole Rasic", "Bubanjski heroji", "Sreten Mladenovic Mika" Primary School "Branko Miljkovic", "Desanka Maksimovic" in Cokot and primary school "Branko Radicevic" in Gabrovac. Classes are held in 13 satellite schools in rural area.
Members of the Students' Parliament stressed that humanitarian actions that are organized, have become a tradition and that their goal is to, whenever possible, to help their comrades who need help. In this way, from school days they are taught social responsibility and solidarity. President of Municipality of Palilula Boban Džunić pointed out that the well-being of the youngest always comes first. “Therefore”, he says, “Municipality of Palilula is actively included to contribute to these humanitarian actions”. Municipality of Palilula launched a campaign "Let's help our children", organized donor evening and humanitarian theatrical performance with drama group from school "Kralj Petar Prvi".
It's a long tradition of celebrating Children's Week in our country and abroad, and thanks to the initiative of the Friends of Children of Serbia, now decades of actors of this event in 1987 was defined by the social welfare of children. Children's Week is held every year in October, with the aim of raising public awareness of children and youth, and the child as the bearer of rights, the needs of children in the family, society and community, their right to grow up in better conditions, to equal opportunities development and realization of potential.
